Master
Associates and Fellows of the CILA are eligible to undertake a Masters by Research course through Bournemouth University. The MRes course is an opportunity to grow your research skills whilst also acquiring a deep understanding of a subject that particularly interests you.
Overview
what is involved and how long will it take?
With the support of two supervisors, you will explore a research question that interests you. CILA members have previously researched topics such as Is loss adjusting a profession or commodity? and The perception of quality in High Net Worth insurance claims. The subject of your research is not restricted to loss adjusting, you may apply to research wider or alternative issues that interest you.
The components of the course include consideration of your research question, a literature review, data collection and analysis, evaluation of findings and a written account.
Assessment is by submission of a thesis (approximately 30,000 words) and a viva voce (viva). A viva involves presenting your work to a panel of two experts.
The course can be completed in a year on a full time basis or over two years on a part time basis.
